Job Description:
Business Unit:
The Wafer Inspection Division (WIN) of KLA-Tencor is the world leader in the design and manufacture of advanced optical inspection tools for inline monitoring of process defects in advanced semiconductor factories.
 
Responsibilities:
1) Design mechanical parts, subsystems for a motion platform used in the next generation wafer inspection tools.
2) Responsible for the complete design process, including requirements, design, testing, BOM structure, and scheduling.
3) The engineer will be conducting various analysis, such as  thermal, vibration and FEA modeling, conceptual and detailed design using Pro/E, detailed drawings, design review presentations, procurement of prototype parts, system integration, prototype testing, and handoff to manufacturing. These tasks will require working with other engineering groups such as Systems engineers and Manufacturing engineers to ensure flawless integration and subsystem test or  system level. Develop the required supporting documentation, such as assembly and test procedures.
 
During prototype testing he/she will have to interact with control, firmware and SW engineers to resolve any issues and optimize performance. Works closely with and manages suppliers to ensure all design requirements are specified and achieved. Addresses and resolves product issues thru the product phases. Has strong leadership, communication and problem solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
1) Knowledge of analysis tools as Matlab or Labview.
2) Good communication and presentation skills.
3) Background in semiconductor design equipment.
4) Design experience of positioning systems integrated with vision systems.
5) Experience with writing requirements and test plans.
6) Experience in vibration optimization and design for high stiffness to weight ratio.
7) Solid modeling and structural analysis FEA, preferably ProE
8) Motion control and servo systems.
9) Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal and castings.
10) Implementation of high resolution feedback devices as encoders and laser interferometer.
11) Good communication and presentation skills.
12) Ownership and leadership skills.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Level Degree with at least 3 years of experience
OR
Master's Level Degree with at least 2 years of experience
OR
Doctorate (Academic)
