Job Title: Engineering Director (reticle Photomask Inspection)

Business Unit:
The RAPID division is the world leading provider of reticle inspection solutions for the semiconductor industry. The company provides inspection solutions to both the mask shops and the semiconductor fabs to ensure that lithography yields are consistently high thus enabling cost-effective manufacturing.

KLA-Tencor has an opportunity for a Director of Engineering to lead product development in the RAPID business segment.  The individual will play a key role in advancing current and future programs.  

Primary responsibilities:
  • Lead Product Lifecycle Cycle (PLC) team in developing and delivering next generation systems to the market
  • Responsible for leading development activities for a cross-functional team consisting of project managers, engineers and technologists (Systems, H/W, S/W, Algorithms, etc.)
  • Responsible for managing development execution (performance, cost, schedule, etc.)
  • Provide support for existing products and drive continuous improvement efforts
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key customers
  • Contribute to product roadmap by working Product Marketing and key customers
  • Support annual strategic planning process to drive future business direction
  • Manage key supplier in developing and delivering critical subassemblies
  • Develop personnel and the next generation of leaders

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of the semiconductor capital equipment business with >5 years of experience
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional engineering teams of > 30 personnel through product development and market introduction
  • Technical expertise in optical or e-beam technologies
  • Strong working relationship with semiconductor industry customers
  • Experience with KLA-Tencor PLC process or demonstrated ability to lead adjacent organizations (Marketing, Applications, Operations and Service) through the product introduction process
  • Ability to make good decisions in a timely manner
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Proven record with >10 years of experience in technology development
  • Experience leading engineering teams of >20 personnel

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Level Degree with at least 15 years of experience.
Master's Level Degree with at least 14 years of experience
Doctorate (Academic) with at least 12 years of experience
