Business Unit:
The Candela ANPI team has a charter to find new customers and new markets opportunities for KT.  We are a small and dynamically evolving team that started from within the Candela division in 2014. Our goal is to identify and help KT grow outside its core semi market.   To validate a business idea we follow the Lean startup model - a Business Model Canvas is drafted, and updated as we learn more.  After the initial screening we need a team that is able to rapidly develop shippable “product probes” to help validate customer use case and economic value.  These projects can vary in scale from hand held device to larger systems with multiple imaging sensors and big data path with complex algorithms.   Some examples if these projects are:  With a start-up partner, a surface metrology solution was developed, leveraging offshore development team,  for a large CE device manufacturer.  Another project we are conducting a technical feasibility study for ultrafast in-situ monitoring.   We are developing a core cross functional project team to collaborate on these growth opportunities.   We also routinely leverage KT talent across the company, in a “pick-up game” for who has a good match in skills, passion and availability to come help our core team execute stronger and quicker.

Responsibilities:
Senior mechanical design engineer will be responsible for the mechanical design of automated optical wafer inspection systems. The candidate will assume responsibility for the next generation design, fabrication, performance characterization, and technical interaction with vendors.  Will be responsible for complete design process, including requirements specification, feasibility studies, analysis and FEA modeling, conceptual and detailed design using SolidWorks, detail drawings, design review presentations, procurement of prototype parts, support prototype testing and system integration, and handoff to manufacturing. Will take projects from design concept through manufacturing build, and will document and address all issues thru the product phases.   Collaboration with marketing, systems, SW, EEs as well as other groups outside of the division.  Can mentor junior mechanical engineers and manage consultants.

Preferred Qualifications:
1) Experience designing opto-mechanical modules, custom fixtures and tooling leading to successful introduction into manufacturing.
2) Expertise with mainstream MCAD and FEA software.
3) Opto-Mechanical design principles: kinematic design, flexures, athermalization, environmental effects.
4) Materials selection and fabrication.
5) Tolerance analysis, GD&T, error budgeting, flow up and flow down of requirements.
6) Structural analysis: finite element analysis, stress in optics, creep and stress relaxation, modal analysis.
7) Thermal analysis: heat transfer, temperature gradients, thermal transients, thermo-elastic analysis.
8) Optical metrology equipment including lasers, interferometers, autocollimators.
9) Vendor management: component fabrication, manufacturing process transfer, qualification.
10) Manage consultants
11) Operational and non-operational environmental and transportation testing including thermal, vibration, and shock.

Minimum Qualifications:
Doctorate (Academic) with at least 5 years of experience.
OR
Master's Level Degree with at least 6 years of experience.
OR
Bachelor's Level Degree with at least 7 years of experience.
