Business Unit:
The Wafer Inspection Division (WIN) is the world leader in the design and manufacture of advanced optical inspection tools for in-line monitoring of process defects in advanced semiconductor factories.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead a cross-functional team in the development of next generation sources for Broadband wafer inspectors.
  • Defines and writes subsystem requirements and the architecture for very complex subsystems.  Typically owns the architecture for one or more subsystems on a complex product. May allocated requirements from the system to subsystem level in some cases.  Signs off and approves designs for the subsystems and systems assigned. Leads and influences the design reviews at the subsystem and system level.
  • Maintains, or contributes significantly to the divisional design processes.  Drives design engineers to use design review rigor and design for X techniques: such as design for performance, value, integration, outsource ability, manufacturability,  maintainability, diagnostics, serviceability, total cycle time, COGS, quality, reliability, regulatory, etc.  Develops and/or provides significant input to the top level system specifications, system error budget, interfaces and working parameters for the optimum hardware/software solution.  Able to analyze and interpret complex system data and develop solutions that optimize subsystem performance.  Able to plan and lead experiments and conduct trade-off studies required to make major architecture decisions on complex systems.  Reviews test plans for subsystems and leads the completion of the subsystem tests, including developing the specifications and data interpretation.    Able to lead the test and integration of complex subsystems
  • Able to resolve the most complex issues during subsystem or system integration and testing.  Able to lead and authorize most aspects of the design for any outsourced complex subsystem, including vendor selection, NRE spending, specification writing, design reviews with the vendor, build, test, acceptance and successful integration into a system.  Able to lead the outsourcing effort for most projects.   Able to lead cross functional teams to solve most system problems from MFG and customer sites.  Able to lead cross functional teams on major product improvements.  Able to investigate, propose and lead the technical investigation of new features for very complex systems.  Able to make significant contributions to the product roadmap, working with internal and external groups to acquire and use the latest available technologies and road-maps.   Able to coach design engineers at all levels, and across geographic boundaries and cultures and influence the design to meet program goals.  Is effective at supporting divisional and/or functional vision(s) and knows how to inspire and motivate team members in their group or function to support the vision.  Acts as a change agent when required for key corporate, functional, and/or group initiatives generally focused on changes that impact their group.  Is a recognized expert in their area of expertise within the company and may work with other divisions or outside groups.  Able to communicate effectively to all levels of the division, with the various inter-divisional engineering groups, customers, vendors and cultures.  Able to give effective technical presentations to all levels in the company, and at customer and vendor sites.  Able to diagnose and solve complex, ambiguous, system problems across algorithms, software, electronics, mechanics, and optics and apply methodical problem solving techniques.  Able to conduct detailed analysis, consider the trade-offs for the various solutions, and make decisions on which solution to implement and why.  Typically the final decision maker on solution implementation on problems that impact the success of the program.  Able to diagnose system issues and lead cross functional engineering teams to solutions, employing the best use of cross functional engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge in the following technical areas:
  • High power lasers and diodes over the IR, Visible, and DUV wavelength regimes
  • Hands-on experience in laser-produced plasmas
  • Optical design
  • Opto-mechanical design
  • Patterned wafer inspection

Minimum Qualifications:
Doctorate (Academic) with at least 3 years of experience
OR
Master's Level Degree with at least 4 years of experience
OR
Bachelor's Level Degree with at least 5 years of experience
