Systems design engineer (e-beam |optics| mechanics| high speed imaging)(#112950/112951)

Job Title: Systems design engineer
Location: Milpitas, CA
Duration: Fulltime

Business Unit:
KLA-Tencor’s EBEAM defect review systems capture high resolution images of the defects detected by inspection tools. Our suite of defect inspectors, defect review and classification tools and data management systems form a complete defect review solution for finding, identifying and tracking yield-critical defects and process issues.

K-T has an opening for a systems engineer in its E-Beam Review division.  The job requires an in-depth knowledge of inspection technology, photon optics or electron optics, image processing, electronics, vacuum and wafer handling.  The successful individual will be expected to individually contribute as well as lead a small group of highly analytical individual contributors.

Other duties include:
Working with applications engineering to understand interaction between electron beam and wafer during characterization and demos.  Create performance models of complex scanning system.  Create top-level system error budgets by integrating and performing trade-off analysis of contributions from various sub-systems.  Create and monitor top-level system integration plans.  Hold requirements reviews, attend design reviews and develop associated engineering documentation.  Lead a technical team through troubleshooting using data driven fishbone techniques.  Design, write and execute detailed test and characterization plans.  Provide engineering support for escalated manufacturing and field issues.  Interact and work with other engineering groups, marketing, field support and manufacturing groups in the course of the above duties.

Preferred Qualifications:
The individual should have demonstrated past success in the design and test of high speed imaging systems for the laboratory or industrial work place.  Experience with the design of high speed imaging or scanning systems is the most important.  Next is demonstrating the ability to debug complex system problems involving optics, mechanics, electronics, and software.  Past experience with product or feature definition through close collaboration with marketing is desired.
  • Should be familiar with scientific and statistical analysis tools and SW tools such as Matlab, JMP, Zemax, and LabView.
  • Have agility and the ability to thrive on a fast paced program and respond quickly to field and internal escalations.
  • Should be able to define objectives clearly, create and track schedules effectively, and drive the team to a solution.
  • Advanced degree in applied optics, mechanical/electrical engineering, physics or related disciplines desired

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Level Degree with at least 5 years of experience.
Master's Level Degree with at least 4 years of experience.
Doctorate (Academic) with at least 2 years of experience.
