Manufacturing Design Engineer (#112971)

Position: Manufacturing Design Engineer
Location: Milpitas, CA
Duration: Full time

Job Description:
Business Unit:
KLA-Tencor has manufacturing sites across the globe, including Belgium, China, Germany, Israel, Singapore and Milpitas (CA). The Global Operations (GOPS) team, comprised of Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Installation, and Quality, is responsible for manufacturing our leading-edge technology.  We partner with our world-wide supply base and our design engineering teams to bring new products to market. The GOPS team is continuously working to build our products Better, Faster, Cheaper.

Responsibilities:
1) Design and develop manufacturing processes for new products and enhancements, and related tooling and fixtures which are consistent with a zero defect level as well as low product cost
2) Manufacturing representative on new product development teams;
3) Identify and implement cost improvement programs across all product lines, at contract manufacturers and in house production.
4) Responsible for identifying issues in manufacturing and resolving them per the quality system requirements
5) Ensure changes to processes have thorough justification and where applicable, validated to meet the regulations and the Company’s quality system
6) Ensure the test protocols and reports are thorough, complete, provide all required details to reproduce the study at a later date. Ensure the data sheets for the studies are well designed to capture all required data
7) Develop protocols and perform product verification and validation testing.
8) Perform process-related design tasks to support pilot manufacturing
9) Support production of final product by troubleshooting manufacturing processes

Preferred Qualifications:
1) Broad technical understanding in infrastructure disciplines including Servers (Intel/Opteron/SPARC-based), OS (Linux, UNIX, Windows), Networking, and Archiving and Storage Systems
2) Strong understanding of engineering materials, component selection, and design for reliability and manufacturability
3) Strong ability to create and document a repeatable Manufacturing Process
4) Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills, and work in a collaborative style
5) Good technical skills and proven engineering problem solving ability
6) Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and tools
7) Comfort with occasional, incremental code testing and deployment
8) Strong grasp of automation tools like: Unix Shell, tcl, Perl, and Python
9) Experience with systems and IT operations and Manufacturing Process Re-Engineering
10) Program management skills a plus
 
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctorate (Academic)
OR
Master's Level Degree with at least 2 years of experience.
OR
Bachelor's Level Degree with at least 3 years of experience.
