Business Unit:
The Candela division is part of the Growth and Emerging Markets group and consists in an organization globally located in US, India, and Singapore. The Candela division has the mission to provide cost-effective solutions for data storage, LED, and other related nanoelectronics applications. We effectively partner with field support teams and customers to lower overall fab costs by supplying world-leading high-throughput inspection, metrology and review systems. Our comprehensive product portfolio includes: all-wafer-surface (front side and backside) macro inspection, standalone high-sampling inspection, and standalone inspection and metrology tools that are deployed across several advanced industries for a large number of applications. Besides developing valuable products, the Candela division provides support to the customers to achieve performance entitlement through the sharing and implementation of applications BKM (Best Known Methods).

Responsibilities:
Mechanical design engineer will be responsible for the mechanical design of automated optical wafer inspection system. The candidate will assume responsibility for the next generation design, fabrication, and technical interaction with vendors.  Will be responsible for design process, including participation in creating requirements specification, analysis and FEA modeling, conceptual and detailed design using SolidWorks, detail drawings, design review presentations, procurement of prototype parts, prototype testing, system integration, and hand-off to manufacturing. Will take projects from design concept, through prototype and testing, to manufacturing build, and will document and address all issues through the product phases.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience designing mechanical modules, custom fixtures and tooling leading to successful introduction into manufacturing.
  • Expertise with mainstream MCAD and FEA software.
  • Mechanical design principles: kinematic design, flexure's, environmental effects.
  • Materials selection and fabrication.
  • Tolerance analysis, GD&T, error budgeting, flow up and flow down of requirements.
  • Structural analysis: finite element analysis, creep and stress relaxation, modal analysis.
  • Thermal analysis: heat transfer, temperature gradients, thermal transients, thermo-elastic analysis.
  • Optical metrology equipment including lasers, interferometers, autocollimator's.
  • Vendor management: component fabrication, manufacturing process transfer, qualification.
  • Operational and non-operational environmental and transportation testing including thermal, vibration, and shock.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Level Degree with at least 3 years of experience.
OR
Masters Level degree with at least 1 to 2 years of experience.
